Burgrave is often a trap into overmaking units. Remember the goal is not to instantly kill the opponent but to keep them in their base. Target food sources as prio 1. Horsemen like beeing split of and come from different angles to get unaware vills :D Reignitz -> Knights, More active playstyle. have 6 on gold and get 1 more stable BEFORE age up to castle is done. Gameplan is also to attack food sources and keep opponent in their base whild collecting the relics. Don't be afraid to rally to wood and get some archers against the spears as HRE ;) With Reignitz try to get a good Imp timing without dying. Then do the unexpected and switch to handcannoneers. -In longer games (if you can't kill opponent in castle) Focus on using map control to secure additional resources. Get defensive castles on large golds and build walls. Don't be afraid to reduce unit prduction to get more stone or wood to expand SAVELY to a new gold/deer/etc. Matchup specific things: - vs French/Rus: rally to wood until 5 get barracks while aging up to feudal and get some spears to protect gold (upgrade first then produce spears) 3-4 spears might be enough but try to actively scout how many knights they make. -vs english: scout if they prepare for longbow/ tower aggression. If yes -> 6 to wood 1 to stone -> get tower IN FRONT OF gold and arrowslits (6 until stone mining camp is done and tower is build than reduce to 3 again) -vs ottomans: Don't be afraid of the early spear attacking gold. FIGHT BACK with vills 3 vills (3vills > 1 DA spear ). Very actively scout the ottomans production and number of archery ranges. if more than 2 ranges: -> get 2 barracks before stable (but go for stable afterwards) and feudal MAA (5-7 on wood to afford barracks) Use MAA defensivley and some Horsemen to counterattack only if possible (focus on enemy woodline). if only two ranges one barracks is sufficient (maybe additional tower where needed) however defending is situational. even if it is had to find the sweet spot, try not to overmake units and use the tc actively to focus archers.
